First safer speed limits proposals – give your views
Earlier this year, 841 people shared with Wokingham Borough Council 1,911 suggestions for where you think speed limits should be lowered in Wokingham Borough. Thank you for taking part.
After careful assessment, we’ve now identified five initial areas, where we’re proposing to lower the speed limit.
Wokingham town centre and Norreys Avenue – new 20mph limits
Twyford village centre and surrounding residential area – new 20mph and 30mph limits
Finchampstead village – new 20mph limit
Silverdale Road and adjacent streets, Earley – new 20mph limits
Rural roads around Hare Hatch – new 30mph limits
We adopted a new speed limit policy in January and want to improve road safety in the borough. The evidence is clear that lower vehicle speeds in built-up areas and rural minor roads improve road safety.
These proposals are the first phase of a longer programme, with other areas to be considered and prioritised in future.
You can find out more, view maps and give your views on these opening proposals until 9 November.
