Community groups, charities, social enterprises and other interested parties are being invited to submit an expression of interest in managing Matthewsgreen Community Centre in Wokingham.

Wokingham Borough Council is launching an Expression of Interest process to find a new operator for the centre, helping to ensure it becomes a valued local facility for residents and community groups.

The successful provider will take on the day-to-day running of the centre, including managing bookings, community use and operational responsibilities. The arrangement will maintain use of the building by Optalis services three days a week, while providing opportunities for wider community use.

The Expression of Interest process is open and closes on Sunday 1 November 2026. Those interested will need to register on the council’s procurement portal, Procontract and the Central Digital Platform to access the bid information, documents and to submit a bid.

Matthewsgreen Community Centre has the potential to become a thriving hub for local activities, services and events. The council is keen to hear from organisations that can show how they would run the facility sustainably while delivering benefits for local residents.

Cllr Rachel Bishop-Firth, executive member for resident services, inclusion and fighting poverty, said: “Matthewsgreen Community Centre is a fantastic space with real potential to bring people together.

“This is a chance for local organisations to share their ideas. We are keen to hear how they could use the centre to bring real benefit to local people.”
