Notice of intention from Wokingham Borough Council to prepare a new local plan

The council has published a notice setting out our intention to begin work on a new local plan. The new local plan will be referred to as the Wokingham Borough Local Plan 2045. You can see the notice and the timetable for producing the plan on the dedicated Local Plan 2045 webpage.

The timetable, which reflects the new national plan-making process, sets out the steps that we are required to follow to prepare a local plan. It also includes the dates we currently anticipate publishing public consultations and undertaking other key steps.

The Local Plan 2045 will replace our current local plans, including the Wokingham Borough Local Plan Update (LPU), which is currently at examination with adoption anticipated in 2027. We are required to start preparing a new plan now in response to national changes to the planning system.
