Local Plan Update

Notification of Examination Part 2 Hearings

In February 2025, Wokingham Borough Council submitted the Local Plan Update 2023-2040: Proposed Submission Plan (LPU), and supporting evidence, to the government for examination. Subsequently, the government appointed two Inspectors to undertake the examination.

Part 1 examination hearing sessions were held Tuesday 18 to Friday 21 November 2025 and focused on legal compliance and strategic matters. The Inspectors' post hearing letter was sent to the council in December 2025.

The Inspectors have stated the examination should proceed to Part 2 hearings, which will cover all other matters. These will commence on Tuesday 17 March 2026 and will be held at the Wokingham Borough Council Civic Offices, Shute End, Wokingham, RG40 1BN.

The hearing sessions will take place over four separate weeks during March to June 2026. Hearing sessions can be attended by interested members of the public who wish to observe the proceedings.

Information about the examination, including guidance notes, the hearing programme, background and other news can be viewed on the examination website.
